Harrison Dragonfest 2011

Thank You from FVDBC and Waters Edge Sport

On behalf of the FVDBC and Waters Edge, I would like to thank everyone for attending the 7th annual Harrison Dragonfest. With over 60 teams participating, this was our largest event to date. The Dragon Boat Gods blessed us with some incredible weather. Sunshine, blue skies and oh so gentle winds made for some great racing. A huge Thank You goes out to all our sponsors and volunteers. Without their continued support we would not have the ability to offer this great regatta to our paddling guests.

Sudden Impact Black took home top honors as Divison A champions, with Riptide coming in second place followed by RGL United. The final race of the day turned out to be one of the closest. The difference between first and third place was 0.53 of a second. Click here for complete race results.

We hope you all had a great time on the beaches of Harrison Hot Springs. See you all next year.

Scott Farrell

FVDBC Community Challenge June 5th 2011

The Fraser Valley Dragon Boat Club’s annual Community Challenge is taking place this Sunday (June 5th2011) from 11:00 to around 2:00pm on Harrison Lake. This is a small regatta built around local businesses in the Fraser Valley. We create dragon boat teams from the local business employees (and family members), give them a few practices so they can get the general idea of dragon boating and then race them against each other. The winner of the regatta gets their name on the Community Challenge Cup and bragging rights for the year.

This year we have Buxton Consulting and Soprema from Chilliwack with Cascade Aerospace from Abbotsford.  We are also trying to get our newly formed Ladies Only Team (recently created) to round out the field. We also plan to have an obstacle course as another fun event for the teams and an Open Paddle for anyone from the general public that might want to try their hand at paddling.

If you are in the Harrison Hot Springs area this Sunday morning, please drop by and watch these newly formed teams race their hearts out.
